Real-World Use Cases

Idea
Use Case: Channel Partner Running Independent Campaigns
Scenario: A college works with Rajesh Kumar Consultancy, who runs WhatsApp and social media campaigns to bring in students. Earlier, Rajesh had no way to push these leads directly into Meritto — he had to manually upload them, which caused delays and data loss.
How it works: Rajesh is given a unique Attribution Link. He shares it across all his campaigns. Every student who registers through this link is automatically captured in the college's Meritto portal, tagged to Rajesh — no manual entry needed.
Idea
Use Case: Tracking Agent Performance in Campaign Dashboard
Scenario: A college wants to see all lead sources — digital campaigns, events, and channel partners — in one unified view. But agent-sourced leads were coming in untagged, making it impossible to measure their performance.
How it works: The college maps the agent's link to a Source (e.g., 'Rajesh Kumar'), Medium, and Campaign. Leads from Rajesh's link now appear in the Campaign Dashboard under his named source — alongside all other channels — giving the college a single, complete view.

Step-by-Step Flow

Step 1: Creating an Agent User

To get started, you first need to create a user with the Agent role.
  1. Log in to Meritto and navigate to User Manager.
  2. Click on Create User. A creation window will open.
  3. In the User Role field (now the first field), select Agent.
  4. Enter the agent's email address. Note: only one email can be added per agent user.
  5. Fill in the Agent Code field. This is a mandatory, alphanumeric field that uniquely identifies the agent. Once saved, this cannot be edited. Up to 9 characters can be added in this field.
  6. (Optional) Fill in the Source, Medium, and Campaign fields under the Campaign Information tab if you want leads from this agent to be mapped to a particular source. These fields are dependent — Medium can only be filled if Source is filled, and Campaign can only be filled if Medium is filled.
  7. Fill in Roles & Permissions as needed. Click Save. The agent will be created in an Invited state.
  8. The agent will receive an activation email containing their unique Attribution Link.
Notes
📌  Note: Source, Medium, and Campaign fields are non-mandatory and non-editable once saved. These fields are also available in bulk user upload.

Once an agent user is created, the college admin can access and share their Attribution Link at any time.
  1. Navigate to User Manager.
  2. Find the agent user and click the Action icon (⋮) against their name.
  3. Click on the Attribution Link. A drawer will open with the title "Attribution Links".
  4. The drawer contains two tabs:
    1. Lead Link / Registration Link (default):  A unique link with the college's landing page URL and the agent's code embedded. Click the copy icon to copy the link and share it with the agent via WhatsApp, email, or any channel.
    2. Application Form Links:  Visible only if the college has application forms and the agent has access to at least one of them. Lists individual form links with the agent code embedded. Each has a copy icon to copy and share.
Notes
📌  Note: If a college admin disables or deletes an agent, the Attribution Link does not expire. However, any lead registered through that link will not be attributed to the disabled agent — the Agent Code field will remain blank for those leads.

Once the agent shares their Attribution Link:
  1. The student clicks the link and is redirected to the college's landing page.
  2. The student fills in their details and registers.
  3. The lead is automatically created in the college's Meritto portal with the Agent Code field populated with that agent's code.
  4. The lead is attributed to the agent and becomes visible in the agent's dashboard.
Notes
📌  Note: If a student who is already registered in the system clicks an Attribution Link, they will be taken to their Student Application Portal (SAP). In this case, the Agent Code field will not be updated.
Notes
📌  Note: The Agent Code field will not be overridden. It only gets updated if the field is blank. Also, the agent code field will be subject to the three configurations that work on the agent attribution as shown below.

Step 4: What Agents See in Their Dashboard

Agents have a restricted view in Meritto — they only see leads and applications attributed to them via their Agent Code.
Lead Manager & Application Manager:  Agents will only see leads where their Agent Code is populated.

Step 5  Tracking Agent Leads in the Campaign Dashboard

If Source, Medium, and Campaign were configured at the time of agent user creation:

Unified source visibility:  All leads captured through the agent's Attribution Link will automatically appear in the Campaign Dashboard under the configured source.
Live count updates:  The Campaign Dashboard will increment the lead count against this source each time a new lead registers through the agent's link.
The tags created here will also automatically appear in the campaign configuration settings.

Conclusion

The Attribution Link feature transforms how colleges work with their agent network. Agents can now drive leads through their own online campaigns and have every lead automatically attributed to them — no manual upload, no data loss. Colleges get complete visibility of agent-sourced leads in the Campaign Dashboard, making it easy to track channel performance alongside all other marketing sources.
