How the Activity format enhances Readability?

How the Activity format enhances Readability?

Overview

Meritto has introduced a significant enhancement to how activity logs are recorded and displayed for Lead, Application, and Opportunity Profile field updates. With this update, activity tracking is now structured, more readable, and actionable, making it easier for users to interpret changes efficiently.

What’s New?

Instead of plain text logs, the system now provides a structured activity format, offering better visibility into field updates.

Key Enhancements:

  • Field updates are structured, showing old and new values.

  • Masked fields remain secure, ensuring sensitive data is hidden when needed.

  • API responses include activity detail IDs, allowing clients to process updates in a tokenized format.

How Does It Work?

Old vs. New Activity Format

Old Version (Unstructured Data)

Previously, when a user updated a profile, the system logged a generic activity like:

πŸ“Œ Rohan has updated State from NA to Uttar Pradesh, City from NA to Lucknow from Profile page

Issues with the Old Format:

  • Difficult to identify multiple field updates quickly.

  • Plain text format lacked structured details.

  • Masked fields were exposed, even when data masking was enabled.

New Version (Structured & Detailed Data)

Now, updates are logged in a structured format:

πŸ“Œ Rohan updated Lead Profile field [View Activity]

πŸ” What happens when you click "View Activity"?
Users can now easily see:
βœ”
Which field was updated (Field Name)
βœ” Previous value (Old Value)
βœ” New value (New Value)

πŸ“Œ Example of Improved Activity Log:

Field Name

Old Value

New Value

State

NA

Uttar Pradesh

City

NA

Lucknow

This organized format eliminates confusion and improves readability.

NotesNote: We have updated the same for all the activities where Field updates are captured.

How Does This Improve Security?

  • Masked fields now remain hidden even during updates, ensuring compliance with data security policies.

  • If field masking is enabled, users will not see sensitive field updates, maintaining privacy.

  • API responses now display only the "View Activity" link, preventing sensitive data from being exposed in plain text.

InfoUsers can fetch the complete activity details using the Activity Detail ID via API.
