Overview

To ensure the Meritto Android App works reliably—especially for call tracking, in-call popups, and real-time alerts—certain app permissions and system settings must be enabled.

If any required permission or system setting is restricted, call data may not sync correctly, pop-ups may not appear, or alerts may be missed.

Mandatory Permissions (Must Be Enabled)

These permissions are essential for Meritto’s core functionality.

Call & Phone Permissions

Permissions required:

• Call Logs

• Phone / Make and Manage Phone Calls

Why this is important:

• Tracks incoming and outgoing calls

• Captures call duration and call activity

If denied:

• Call data will not sync

• Call duration will not be captured

• In-app calling may not function

Pop-up / Overlay Permissions

This permission may appear with different names depending on the device:

• Display over other apps

• Appear on top

• Show pop-up for calling

• Show Air Alerts for Calling

Why this is important:

• Displays call pop-ups during incoming and outgoing calls

• Enables real-time call interaction

If denied:

• Call pop-ups will not appear

Note for Xiaomi devices:
An additional background pop-up permission may be required. If disabled, pop-ups will not appear when the app is closed or running in the background.

Notification Permission

Permission required:

• Push Notifications (mandatory for Android 13 and above)

Why this is important:

• Ensures real-time alerts and updates from Meritto

If denied:

• Alerts and notifications may not be received

How to Enable Permissions from Mobile Settings

If permissions were skipped during installation, enable them manually.

Steps:

1. Open Phone Settings

2. Go to Apps / Applications

3. Select Meritto App

4. Tap Permissions

5. Allow:

   • Phone

   • Call Logs

   • Notifications

   • Pop-up / Overlay permissions

Battery & Background Settings (Critical)

Android may restrict apps running in the background to save battery. These settings must be disabled for Meritto.

Set Battery Usage to Unrestricted

Steps:

1. Go to Settings > Apps > Meritto App

2. Tap Battery

3. Select Unrestricted or Don’t Optimize

Why this is important:

• Prevents the system from stopping the app in the background

• Ensures uninterrupted call tracking

Disable Inactivity-Based Permission Removal

Some devices automatically remove permissions if an app is not used frequently.

Steps:

1. Go to Settings > Apps > Meritto App

2. Scroll to the bottom of the App Info page

3. Turn OFF:

   • Remove permissions if app is unused

   • Pause app activity if unused (label may vary)

Why this is important:

• Prevents automatic permission revocation

• Ensures continuous background operation

Keep the App Active

For best performance:

• Do not force-close the Meritto App

• Do not swipe it away from recent apps

• The app must remain active in the foreground or background

Force-closing the app may prevent call tracking from triggering.

Known Limitation

International Numbers Not Supported

• Meritto’s telephony features do not support international mobile numbers

• Calls to international numbers may fail when initiated from the app

Quick Checklist

Before using the Meritto Android App, confirm the following:

• ✅ Call Logs & Phone permissions enabled

• ✅ Pop-up / Overlay permissions enabled

• ✅ Notifications allowed

• ✅ Battery usage set to Unrestricted

• ✅ Inactivity-based permission removal disabled

• ✅ App is not force-closed
