WhatsApp MM Lite Enablement via Meta Platform (Meritto Guide)
Overview
Meritto uses Meta’s official WhatsApp Business API (WABA) onboarding and upgrade flow to ensure secure, compliant, and scalable WhatsApp communication for all clients.
What Is MM Lite?
MM Lite (Messaging Metrics Lite) is Meta’s latest messaging engine and analytics framework for WhatsApp.
Once MM Lite is enabled:
- All WhatsApp marketing messages traffic is routed through Meta’s upgraded delivery infrastructure
- Message delivery, routing, and reporting are optimized
- Performance insights become more accurate and actionable
Why the MM Lite Upgrade Is Mandatory
The MM Lite upgrade is extremely critical for all clients using WhatsApp. This upgrade is not optional. Clients must accept the MM Lite setup notification surfaced by Meta to avoid delivery issues and cost penalties.
Key Benefits of MM Lite
Meta reports measurable improvements after MM Lite migration:
- Better message delivery rates
- Faster and more reliable routing for high-volume traffic
- Significant reduction in “Other” and undelivered message failures
- Improved performance analytics and visibility
Risks of NOT Upgrading to MM Lite
- Continued lower delivery rates, especially for bulk and marketing traffic
- Gradual deprecation of the legacy Cloud API routing model
Steps to Complete MM Lite enablement (Client Action Required)
Meta surfaces the MM Lite upgrade directly inside the client’s Meta interface. Meritto cannot accept this on behalf of the clients.
Step-by-Step Process
- Log in to Facebook Business Manager / Meta Business Suite
- Select the WhatsApp Business Account (WABA) configured with Meritto
- Navigate to Manage Templates
- Look for the MM Lite pop-up with “Accept Terms to Get Started”
- If the pop-up is not visible:
- Open any WhatsApp template
- Click View Insights
- Scroll down to locate the MM Lite setup notification
- Click Accept Terms to Get Started
- Click Accept to complete the migration
- Notify Meritto immediately once completed
- Meritto team needs to be notified instantly.
- Communication is shared with the respective Customer Success (CS) team.
- Final backend configuration is completed within the Meritto platform.
- WhatsApp traffic starts flowing via MM Lite infrastructure.
No further action is required from the client after acceptance.
MM Lite enablement is a mandatory Meta-driven upgrade. Delaying or ignoring the setup will directly impact delivery, and compliance. We recommend completing the MM Lite acceptance at the earliest and informing the Meritto team immediately for seamless backend activation.
If you need help locating the MM Lite notification inside Meta Business Manager, our team is happy to assist. Please connect with the respective CS.
