WhatsApp Retry | Enhancing message delivery for Bulk communication
Overview
In large-scale communication ecosystems, message delivery reliability plays a critical role in ensuring user engagement. To strengthen delivery success rates across WhatsApp communications, the WhatsApp Retry Feature has been introduced as a recovery mechanism specifically designed for bulk communication.
This feature helps automatically retry failed for specific error 131049 (META choosing not to deliver a message ) WhatsApp messages under predefined conditions, improving overall delivery performance without requiring manual intervention.
What is the WhatsApp Retry Feature?
The WhatsApp Retry Feature is an automated message reprocessing capability that attempts to resend failed WhatsApp communications when delivery failures occur.
The retry mechanism is applicable only for bulk communication campaigns and is currently aligned with the following modules:
- Lead Manager
- Application Manager
- RAW Data Campaigns
The feature is intentionally not enabled for Automation, single or one-to-one communication flows, ensuring retry logic is optimized specifically for high-volume campaign-based messaging.
How does the Retry Flow Work?
When a bulk WhatsApp campaign is triggered:
- The system initiates message delivery to the intended recipients.
- If a message fails due to 131049 error code, the platform automatically queues the message for retry if Enable/Disable toggle is enabled.

- The retry engine processes the message again after predefined intervals.
- The cycle continues until:
- The message is successfully delivered, or
- The configured retry limit is reached.
This process significantly improves delivery probability while maintaining controlled infrastructure utilization.
Default Retry Configuration
To provide optimized delivery improvement out of the box:
- 5 Retry Attempts are enabled by default.
- Users can modify the retry count based on campaign requirements and communication strategy.
Campaign-Level Retry Control
Not every campaign requires retry attempts. Certain time-sensitive campaigns may lose relevance after the initial delivery window.
To address this, the platform provides a dedicated Retry Toggle at the campaign level.
Using this toggle:
- Users can completely disable retries for specific campaigns.
- Campaigns where immediate delivery matters more than delayed delivery can bypass retry processing.
- Teams gain better operational control over communication behavior.
