In Phase 1 of DLT (Distributed Ledger Technology) implementation, which went live on June 1, 2020, Entity Registration and Header Registration were mandatory. With Phase 2, entities must register their Content Templates on the respective DLT portal where they have registered their entities.
This article provides a step-by-step guide for template registration across different telecom platforms, including Vodafone-Idea (VILPOWER), BSNL, Videocon, and Jio DLT.
Only one space is allowed between words, before and after.
Variables must be inserted using the Insert Variable button above the textbox or the {#var#} format (case-sensitive).
{#var#} can be used in both Service Implicit and Service Explicit templates.
Special characters are accepted.
Replace custom values (such as amount, date, application number, OTP, codes, URL, customer name, etc.) with {#var#}.

A Service Implicit message is triggered by a user action or an existing relationship with the university/college and is not promotional.
Key Requirement: The brand name must be included at the end of the message.

Messages for Application Submission
A Service Explicit message includes any promotional SMS that would be sent from the Meritto platform, needs to be approved in the content template. It also includes any service message that doesn’t fall under the service-implicit category.
Key Requirement: The brand name must be included at the end of the message.
Illustration: Messages to the existing customers recommending or promoting their other products or services.
Steps to upload Service Implicit templates:
Login to the portal with your credentials
Go to the template section and select the Template type Service Implicit
Select all the headers with which you want to link a template with
Provide template name (place a unique name for each template for your reference) & select Template message types such as Text or Unicode
Save the template to send for approval to the DLT registrar

Steps to upload Service Explicit templates:
Login to the portal with your credentials.
Go to the template section and select the Template type i.e. Service Explicit
Select all the headers with which you want to link a particular template.
Provide template name (place a unique name for each template for your reference) & select Unique Template message types such as Text or Unicode
Save the template to send for approval to the DLT registrar

Navigate to Template > Content Template > Add.
Choose Template Type of Communication– Service Implicit or Service Explicit.
Select a Category from the dropdown list.
Search and select a Header.
Choose Consent Template from the dropdown list.
Add a Template Name and choose Text/Unicode as the template message type.
Enter the template content and click Save to send for approval.
Important Note: Ensure that there are no extra spaces in the content template added in DLT platform, and the variable length does not exceed 30 characters.Go to Template > Add New Template.
Enter a Template Name.
Choose Communication Type as SMS.
Select Template Type of Communication– Service Implicit or Service Explicit.
Choose a Content Category from the dropdown list.
Enter the template content, verify via OTP, and click Submit.
Important Note: Ensure that there are no extra spaces in the content template added in DLT platform, and the variable length does not exceed 30 characters.Navigate to Template > Content Template Registration.
Choose Template Type as SMS.
Select Content Type – English or Other Language.
Choose Category from the dropdown list.
Select Template Type of Communication– Service Implicit or Service Explicit.
Select Header from the dropdown list.
Enter the template content and click Submit.
