Lead Fields | Settings > Delete Custom Field | Allows you to permanently remove custom fields from the account. |
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: In the Navigation Menu, go to Settings > Institute Configuration > Lead Fields or directly search for "Lead Fields" in the Search Bar.
Step 2: To be able to delete a Lead Field, you must first disable it. Toggle the status switch to OFF (if it's currently enabled). A toast message will confirm the Lead Field is disabled.
Step 3: Hover over the Lead Field you want to delete and click the vertical three dots icon (⋮). From the menu that appears, select Delete Custom Field.
Step 4: If the Lead Field is linked to other features, a sidebar will appear showing any dependencies.
- Mandatory Dependencies: If the Lead FIeld is used in Webforms (Widgets), Automations, User Allocation Logic, or Webhooks, you must manually remove these associations. Use the View Details button to navigate to the relevant configuration and clear the dependency.
- Non-Mandatory Dependencies: If the Lead Field is used in Saved Views, these dependencies will be automatically unlinked when the field is deleted.

Step 5: Once all mandatory dependencies are cleared, type Delete in the input field to enable the Delete button.
Step 6: Click the Delete button. A success message will appear, and the Lead Field will be removed from your account.

Note: You can only delete Custom Fields. System Fields are permanent and cannot be removed.
Points to Keep in Mind
- Custom Fields Only: You can only delete Custom Fields. System Fields are essential for the CRM's functionality and cannot be removed.
- Disable First: A Lead Field must be disabled (Status OFF) before the Delete option becomes available.
- Deletion is Permanent: Deleting a field is irreversible. All data collected through that field will be lost.
- Mandatory Dependencies: You must manually resolve all mandatory dependencies (e.g., in Webforms, Automations) before you can proceed with deletion. The system will automatically remove non-mandatory dependencies.
- Case Sensitivity: The confirmation word Delete must be typed with a capital 'D' and be an exact match to proceed.
Conclusion
By following these steps, you successfully delete a custom field and clear its dependencies. This proactive step is crucial for maintaining a clean, efficient CRM environment, staying within your plan's custom field limits, and ensuring your data structure is optimized for future enrollment needs.
