How To Create Fields in Opportunity?

Introduction

The Fields tab on the Opportunity listing page allows you to centrally create and manage opportunity fields. Once created, these fields can be associated with multiple opportunity lists, eliminating redundancy and significantly reducing setup time.

Types of field in opportunity

There are two types of fields available in the Opportunity module:

Logic Fields
These are  fields used in logical configurations within opportunity lists, typically registration fields used in the opportunity logic .
Notes
Note: Logic fields cannot be edited or deleted.

Dynamic Fields
These are custom fields configured specifically for opportunities and actively used within them.
Notes
Note: Dynamic fields can be edited and deleted as needed.

Configuration Options: Creating a New  Dynamic Field in opportunity 

This section outlines the simple steps to create a new  dynamic field and describes the primary configuration sections you will encounter.
  1. Start Creation: Once you are on the opportunity page, look for the Fields button located in the top right corner just after the list. Click this button and find create fields on the right top 
  2. Fill Details: A configuration window will appear. You will move through various sections to define the field's behavior and attributes:
    1. Basic Settings: This is where you define the Field Label (the name the user sees) and the Field Type. Available types include Textbox, Dropdown, Date and Upload. 
    2. Add associated tab : This section manages the field's visibility in the tab. The specific field will be visible only in that selected tab 
    3. Other Settings: This section covers general system configurations. Options include setting whether the field should be Hidden, defining its display Position, specifying where its value can be updated from, and marking the field as Sensitive Data (PII).
    4. Save: Review your entries across all sections and click the Save button to finalize the creation.

How to associate this field in the opportunity list ? 

To associate a centrally created field with a specific opportunity list, follow these steps during the Opportunity List Creation process:
  1. Navigate to Opportunity List Creation
  2. Click on Create from Listing → Proceed to Step 1 → Then move to Step2
  3. In Step 2, click the “Associate Field” button.
  4. Select the Field from the dropdown, (  choose the centrally created field you want to associate with the list.)
  5. There are certain validations that should be configured at the association of the field to the list, as it might be different from list to list. 
    1. Common options include setting whether the field is Required and defining the specific 
    2. Field Attribute Settings: The options here vary based on the selected Field Type. For example, if you choose Textbox, you might configure the input type, placeholder text, minimum/maximum character limits, special characters allowed and similar attributes.
  6. Configure List-Specific Attributes
  7. Click on Save

Note: Attributes configured at the central level cannot be modified at the list level.
