Identifying and Configuring Tracking Codes

Google Universal Analytics
  1. Format: UA-XXXXXXXX-Y, also referred to as the Tracking ID.
  2. Purpose: Tracks website traffic, user behavior, and events.
  3. Placement: Pageview or widget load instance.
  4. Sample Code:

Google Analytics GA4 (G)
  1. Format: G-XXXXXXXX, also referred to as the Measurement ID.
  2. Purpose: Successor to Universal Analytics, offering event-driven tracking. Track user activities, measure website traffic, and analyze user behavior
  3. Placement: Pageview or widget load instance.
  4. Sample Code:

Google Remarketing Code
  1. Format: AW-XXXXXXXX, also referred to as the Conversion ID.
  2. Purpose: Build targeted audiences for future ads and retarget leads who have already taken action on your website.
  3. Placement: Pageview or widget load instance.
  4. Sample Code:

Google Conversion Code
  1. Format: AW-XXXXXXXXXXXX/YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY. Conversion ID: before /, Conversion Label after /.
  2. Purpose: Tracks successful conversions (e.g., form submissions, payments).
  3. Placement: Thank You, Complete Registration, or Payment Success pages.

Facebook Pixel Code (Meta Pixel Code)
  1. Purpose: Tracks user interactions for Facebook Ads, retargeting, and conversion tracking.

Triggers

  1. You can specify the triggers based on which the tracking code should work. 
  2. Triggers can be set on all pages or on specified pages.
  3. You can also add multiple triggers for a single page by clicking on add new trigger. Click on Save once all the changes are done.

  1. Ensure correct placement of tracking codes for accurate data collection.
  2. Use appropriate event tracking for Facebook Pixel and Quora Pixel.
  3. Validate the tracking codes before deployment using testing tools.
