Overview

The Field Force Location Tracking feature in Meritto's Mobile App allows organizations to track your locations during Check-in and Check-out automatically. This feature provides real-time insights into field operations and ensures that managers can monitor their team’s location history efficiently.

Plan & Permissions

  • Available for: Entities with field operations that require location tracking.

  • Permissions Required:

    • Field Force Location Tracking: Enables location tracking for you.

    • Check-in/Check-out: Automatically enabled when Field Force Location Tracking is turned on.

    • Location Capture while Check-in/Check-out: Automatically enabled.

Important:

  • Auto-start Permission: Must be enabled.

  • Battery Optimization: Must be turned off for Meritto App to ensure consistent location capture.

Core Functionalities

Enabling Field Force Location Tracking

To enable this feature:

  • Step 1: Go to User Access Control > Manage Permissions.

  • Step 2: Select a permission template.

  • Step 3: Locate the User Manager section and enable Field Force Location Tracking as required.

Auto-enabled Permissions:

  • Check-in/Check-out

  • Location Capture while Check-in/Check-out

  • Field Force location tracking

Mobile App Workflow

Once permissions are enabled:

  • Check-in: Location tracking begins automatically after Check-in.

  • Check-out: Location tracking stops after Check-out.

  • Location Update Frequency: The app captures your location every 30 minutes when running in the background.

Viewing Location History

On the 'View Attendance' screen, you will see your own data by default. To view a team member's data, they can click the 'Filter' icon or the Name on the top right.You can view your location history in two ways:

  • List View: Displays a timeline of all location check-ins with timestamps and location names.

  • Map View: Provides a visual map view of all check-in locations for easier understanding.

How to View Location History:

  1. Go to More > View Institute Attendance > Click on Date > View Location History.

  2. Select between List View or Map View for a preferred view.

Team View 

Viewing a team's attendance remains the same, with a new filter in the Calendar View to select and view any team member's details.

Notes

Note:

  • By default, the logged-in user sees their own data.

  • Your name is displayed in the header, which also opens the filter to switch users.

  • No Check-in/Check-out button is shown when viewing another team member’s details.

User Scenarios & Role-Based Access

The Filter Icon visibility depends on the your role and data access:

  • Role: Counsellor (Individual Access): No Filter shown.

  • Role: Counsellor (Team Access): Filter available to view team member data.

  • Role: College Admin: Filter will be shown and can view data of all users but cannot view other College Admins’ data.

  • Role: College Super Admin: Filter will be shown and can view all data, including all College Super Admins, College Admins, Counsellors, and Agents.

Managing Location Tracking

List View

Clicking “View Location History” displays a timeline of all manual and automatic location check-ins. You can switch to a Map view if needed (explained later).

  • Locations are shown in descending order of date/time.

  • Locations within 500m are merged, showing total time spent at that location in a blue bubble with 'From' and 'To' timestamps.

  • If a location is not fetched, “Get Location Name” appears. Tapping it retrieves and saves the place name, which will be shown on future visits along with latitude/longitude.

  • List View and Map View tabs are available when “Field Force Location Tracking” is enabled in permissions.

Map View

  • Pin Color Indication: Selected pins appear Green.

  • Location Summary: Displays all check-in locations visually on Google Maps within the app.

When Location Permission is disabled

  • If you disable Location Permission after checking in, the app will prompt you to enable it when reopened.

  • If the app remains unopened, an in-app push notification will remind the you to enable Location Services or manually check out if done for the day.

  • The notification will be like:“It seems that your Location Services are turned off. Enable them to ensure seamless working of Meritto App. Or Check-out yourself from the App if you are done for the day”.

  • Clicking the notification redirects to Phone Settings > Location Permission.

If You Forget to Check-Out

  • If you forget to check out, location tracking continues until 11:59:59 PM.

  • Checkout will follow the standard process defined in the “check-in/check-out” feature.
