Mercer | Mettl Exam Integration enables you to manage the exam ecosystem efficiently, covering processes like online exams, admit card generation, scorecard retrieval, and result mapping. Meritto provides seamless pre-integrated solutions with exam partners such as Wheebox, AoN Cocubes, and Mercer | Mettl to simplify these configurations.
This article explains how to enable Mercer | Mettl, configure exam workflows, manage exam partner settings, validate candidate results, and troubleshoot potential issues.
The first step in Mercer | Mettl integration is to obtain a complete understanding of the exam workflow as defined by you.
Share the Requirement Gathering Sheet (Mercer_Mettl Exam Ecosystem Requirements.docx) with you and Mercer | Mettl.
Collect institute-specific details regarding admit card generation, result templates, and other requirements.
Obtain technical details from Mercer | Mettl, including API keys, exam access keys, and notification URLs.

To configure the exam workflow in Meritto:
Navigate to Exam Configuration:
Go to Settings > Institute Configuration.
Click on Manage Exam Config.
Select Form Name and Exam Partner:
Choose the form name for which the exam has to be configured.
Under the Exam Partner section, select Mercer | Mettl.
Whitelist for Testing:
For testing purposes, you can whitelist specific IPs or emails.
If enabled, the ecosystem operates only for these selected candidates, and the status will be displayed as Test Mode on Manage Exam Page.
Note: Slot booking is not available for Mercer | Mettl, so this step can be skipped.To enable slot booking:
Check Enable Slot Booking to allow candidates to book slots.
Define Eligibility Start and End Dates for slot booking.
Data will be pushed to Mercer | Mettl via the Exam Information API.
Key Benefit: Allows candidates to SSO to Mercer | Mettl and book their exam slot, selecting date, time, and venue.
Note: Only Static date is applicable for all pre-integrated vendor partners. The other 2 options do not apply.As of now, Mettl does not have a slot booking process. Hence, the slot-booking module can be avoided if needed.To enable online exam attempts:
Enable Online Exam to allow candidates to take the test without slot booking.
Define the Button Name to be displayed on the candidate’s dashboard.
To enable admit card generation:
Enable Modify Appointment API.
Slot booking details will be pushed via the Modify Appointment API.
Configure the Admit Card Template that appears in the student’s portal post-slot confirmation.

Note:
Also, admit cards can be configured in document templates where you can choose the document sub-type as 'Admit Card' and it will be visible in the drop-down in admit card template dropdown in the exam config.
The modified appointment API is also not used by Mettl as we do not receive any slot booking details from Mettl. So, we can skip this sub-module if needed.
To enable scorecard generation:
Enable Result Notification API.
Mercer | Mettl pushes the result using the Result Notification API.
Configure the Scorecard Template for download by candidates from the portal.
Key Benefit: Allows seamless fetching and display of candidate results.This module allows the Candidates who have scheduled their Exam, to change their Exam Venue or Date or Time any time within the allowed window for Rescheduling. Currently, rescheduling and retake options are:
Not Active: No requirements have been received from you or Mercer | Mettl.
Once enabled, You can define:
Reschedule attempts allowed and Button Name.
Payment options for rescheduling.
Time duration within which rescheduling can be done.
Retake conditions, including fees, Button Name and time gaps between attempts.
Note: Rescheduling and retake options will be configured based on future requirements.As of now, we have not received reschedule or retake configuration requests for Mercer | Mettl. Hence, the Re-scheduling and Retake options are optional to configure in this case.Show Exam Graph: Here you can define all the Exam dispositions that you would like to see in the Exam Attempts dashlet on the Admin Dashboard.

To configure Mercer | Mettl-specific settings:
Assessment Schedule API and Registration API:
Pre-populated in the Exam RGS and automatically configured.
Public, Private, and Access Keys:
These keys vary by client and can be obtained from the Mettl dashboard.
Access keys are available in the Test Link Settings section of the Mettl dashboard.

Generate Exam Access Key:
The Exam Access Key field maps the Exam Series Code/Exam Name.
Configure the field in Meritto using a disabled form field and populate it through JS.
Test Graded Notification URL:
The URL remains constant except for the institute ID, which must be replaced for each institution.

Click on ‘Save Config’ to apply the settings. This will clear all static caches and save the configurations for exam integration.Result Mapping allows you to map JSON/XML result data to Admin fields in Meritto. Once candidates complete the exam, Mercer | Mettl pushes the results to Meritto's Result API.
Preview Result Data:
Go to Manage Exam > Exam Result Data.
Click on Preview to view result data in JSON/XML format.
Validate and Map JSON:
Copy and paste the JSON/XML into the Template Format dialog box.
Click on Validate JSON to verify its correctness.
Define sectional and subsection headings for marks obtained.
Map Fields to Admin Data:
Select Admin fields to map the result data.
Click on Add More to map multiple fields.
Create new Admin fields if required.
Save Config to apply result mapping settings.
Note: Result mapping should only be done, after saving the main exam config. Once the student is able to SSO and the result has been fetched on the Meritto Result API, only after that should you map the Result JSON.Once the configurations are complete, the candidate flow needs to be tested, and a sign-off should be obtained using:
Implementation Tracker: Tracks configuration progress and approvals.
Sanity Sheet: Maintains weekly data to monitor any discrepancies.
